Latest Sailing Trials
After starting the day with high winds, torrental rain and finally hail (yes, actual hailstones) the weather brightened up and the sun came out. S/Y Twizzle went out on a Sailing Sea Trial in driving rain and 24 knot winds on 7 August, testing performance in various conditions. The North Sail Mizzen Staysail made out of advanced Cuban Fibre (monfilament Dyneema fibre autoclaved in sections) was hoisted for the first time. This sail, between a hydraulic pad-eye forward of the raised bridge and the top of the Mizzen Mast provides an estimated 1.5 to 2 knots extra speed in reaching/downwind conditions.
