Advanced Mast, Rigging and Sail Systems:
S/Y Twizzle has installed the largest Southern Spas Rigging Package ever created. Southern supplied the advanced Panamax Carbon Fiber Main Mast at 62.5 m and the biggest Mizzen Mast ever created at 58.0 m as well as carbon fiber Leasurefoil booms and racing low profile and raked Spreaders with an innovative titanium spreader tip design.
Continuous Rigging supplied the largest Rigging Package installed on any yacht using EC6+ Continuous Carbon Fiber Rigging and Backstays. The V2 Stay diameter is 60mm equivalent to a -520 Nitronic rod with an 80% saving in weight and windage.
The rigging package also features the largest split backstay to date at 61 meters. This innovative concept eliminates the need for a bridle plate that traditional backstays utilize by splitting into two legs at the point where the plate would have been, thus offering lower drag and better sailing performance.
The high speed, high power Rondal hydraulic captive winches provide superb sailing performance. The huge Main and Mizzen North 3DL Sails can be raised simultaneously in 2 minutes and the Genoa, Blade and Staysail can be furled in and out extremely quickly allowing fast tacking under race conditions.
The swing Centreboard can be lowered or raised to any angle in less than a minute even at speed or when sailing, from a minimum depth of 3.8 m to a maximum of 10.4 m. This provides a range of flexible options when racing and acts as a stabilizer when motoring.
